Train Control, Systems Integration, and Safety

SFMTA On-Call Engineering, Twin Peak Crossover ATCS Project, San Francisco, CA, 2017-2018. Vineet was a Project Manager for Twin Peak Crossover ATCS Project. The scope of work included, preparing conceptual engineering report, technical provisions, and rough order of magnitude cost estimate to help SFMTA hire train control system vendor.  The project required signaling changes to enable use of the new crossovers, include the configuration, installation, testing, and commissioning of a new axle counter product to replace the current generation throughout the entire signaled area of the system in 5.2 Mile Tunnel. The motive behind the use of the axle counters is to increase reliability, optimize block size and increase non-communicating trains (NCT) throughput by adding additional detection points.

SFMTA On-Call Engineering, SFMTA, San Francisco, CA, 2017-2017.  Vineet was systems Lead for this on-call contract.  He was a task order lead for vital train signals work for UCSF Platform Extension Project.  The work included Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) for vital train signal system for a double crossover, single crossover, and a relocated UCSF platform.  Vineet was also responsible for publishing white paper to explore the feasibility of using axle counters in Lieu of track circuits for vital train control.

SFMTA On-Call Engineering, SFMTA, San Francisco, CA, 2013–2016.  As Systems Lead, Vineet was responsible for providing as-needed support for traction power, communications, radio system, train control, and overhead catenary system, safety and security, and systems integration. Vineet was a task lead for providing safety oversight for the ATCS Final Cutover Project.  The work included reviewing station controller safety certification report, developing and implementing safety and security checklist, reviewing contractor’s preliminary hazard analysis (PHA), participating in the safety and security certification committee meetings, and developing safety and security certification verification report (SSCVR).

Central Subway Project, San Francisco Municipal Railway (MUNI), San Francisco, CA, 2008-2008.  As Systems Integration Lead, Vineet was responsible for system integration during the preliminary system design for MUNI Third Street Light Rail Project for Phase II.  MUNI Third Street Light Rail Project, Phase II connects China town to AT&T Ball Park Stations through the Moscone Center and is scheduled to open in Year 2019.  As System Integrator, Vineet’s role was to coordinate the efforts of various segments such as Civil, Tunnel, Stations, Systems, Utilities, and Drainage.
