SVRT-BART Core System Improvements Study for BART, Oakland, 2008– 2011.   As Project Lead, Vineet developed conceptual level plans and cost estimates for modifications needed for exiting BART System to accommodate Silicon Valley Rapid Transit (SVRT) Project and Silicon Valley Berryessa Extension (SVBX).  These plans established the BART System Integration Modifications needed to mitigate impacts from the addition of the SVRT/SVBX Project to the BART core system. The systems studied were Traction Power System (including AC and DC subsystems), Communications system, and Train Control System. Communication-based train control (CBTC) was also explored for the BART Core System.

Traction Power and Systems 30-Year Rehabilitation and Upgrade Program Study for BART, Oakland, 2004-2006.  Two separate studies were performed for BART, one was “Systems 30-Year Rehabilitation and Upgrade Program Study” and the other was “Traction Power and Systems 30-Year Rehabilitation and Upgrade Program Study” under on-call services.  The studies were conducted for the rehabilitation and upgrade of BART’s train control, communications, and traction power systems with a 30-year outlook to (a) incorporate projections for planned extensions and ridership growth and (b) account for equipment service life and potential failures based on historical data. Vineet as Traction Power Specialist/Communications Lead was instrumental in developing priority-based investment strategies for rehabilitation and upgrade of traction power system.
